This week has by far been one of the most stressful weeks in ISM primarily because it has been nothing but one thing: crunch time. Unfortunately, however, app designing and “crunch time” are not two phrases which pair well together. Designing requires intentionality and time so my attempt to try and touch up everything last minute to ensure it is to my standards before the due date is practically hopeless. Because I cannot speed up the design process, I have decided to think about ways in which I can change certain aspects of my app and one of the ways I have done so is through research. .

As Ms. Kristen Kirk once told me when I brought up my app idea: “Designing an app consists of 25% design and 75% research.” Throughout the process of actually designing the product, I lost sight of this notion and ended up focusing much more on the design aspect of the process than what I would have liked. It was not until recently that I decided to incorporate more research into my app development journey and once I decided to shift my focus to designing, I struggled to figure out how to gather results in a convenient and quick way. I chose to create a google form which ultimately gathered research on what brings people stress and how they relieve it. I released the form and surprisingly received a lot of responses which I am incredibly thankful for as I can now begin to tailor my designs based on other’s specific needs. An example of ways I am currency altering the app are the color palette as well as different features within the app.

Though this week has been stressful due to the due date for my Original Work coming up quite fast, I have decided to use this week to further my app in ways I would have never thought of. This week has allowed me to step back and think about why I chose to create this app in the first place as well as how much progress I have made on it. I enjoy being able to learn new things about UX/UI and this project has provided me with an excellent opportunity to do so. By next week, I will be making touch-ups to the product before sending it off to Mason to start coding. Meaning by the end of this week, I will have my prototype finished.
