I have been spending a lot of time on my Original Work lately. And it has not been easy. Since my last blog, I have made a lot more progress on my designs by adding a meditations tab, a login page, and making better, more convenient updates to the home page. However, I have decided to move my project from Adobe XD to Figma and the transition between the two have been very difficult to adapt to.

The reason I decided to switch the design from Adobe XD to Figma is because I needed to ensure that I got more practice in for Figma considering that it is becoming the industry standard for UX Designers.

Also, since my last blog, I got the opportunity to meet with Ms. Kristen Kirk again and she gave me very helpful feedback on my ideas as well as an introduction on the basics of designing in Figma. I am incredibly thankful for her tips as they have been helpful in learning the new program. Another thing she offered were places to find inspiration such as Designspiration.com and Dribbble and how to find coordinating color palettes. She gave me advice about, not just the app, but also on how to grow my position as a UX Designer with general UX knowledge such as questions to ask while conducting research, questions that I will be presented with when finding a job as a UX Designer, and even provided me with websites on where to get copyright free pictures and design templates. Needless to say, I have been utilizing every bit of information she has provided me (along with the regular Figma-how-to youtube videos that I have been needing to research).

As I have made the transition from XD to Figma, I have faced a lot of design challenges given I am not very digitally literate in using Figma, however, with the help of Ms. Kristen’s tips and the use of my own research, I am gradually gaining a better sense of how to use Figma. After I design the finished prototype of my app, I plan on doing research to tidy up the app while Mason is busy coding it. As of right now, however, I am continuing to learn more about Figma and app design as a whole and will include all the information that I learn into designing. Designing my app has been incredibly tricky and stressful to do, although I know that all of the work that I am putting in will eventually be worth it.
