Now that I have my Original Work plans set, I have been struggling on finding what specific features I want in the app. I have lots of experience in designing layouts for yearbooks as well as designing graphics in Adobe Photoshop, however, I have never created a design for an app before and am not entirely sure what features to include.
Lately, I have been doing the majority of my designing on Adobe XD, given my recent experience with Figma was quite stressful, and have already designed the layouts for the “Meditation” tab of the app as well as two different versions of the “Home” tab of the app. The only problem with these designs is that I do not know how compatible they will be with iOS and what specific requirements I need for the app before putting it into the app store. I have been utilizing resources such as the ones Ms. Kristen gave me on design and typography as well as Apple’s Human Interface guidelines, however, neither of those are of much help.
I am meeting with Ms. Kristen again this Friday to discuss my plans, though I will have to reach out to more UX Designers in the field of app development, app developers themselves, and maybe even software developers to gain some expertise and advice for designing the app. My hope by contacting more app creators is to gain various design tips, know the list of requirements for designing an iOS app, as well as what features are considered standard vs difficult to implement within an app. My hope is that by contacting more professionals, I will be able to design the mock up more efficiently in order to create an outstanding app that will benefit people.
