Recently, I got the wonderful opportunity to meet with Jenny Sun. Jenny is a visual designer, specifically a UI designer, working at a consulting firm based in Bellevue, Washington. In the interview she was incredibly helpful as she informed me on skills needed as a UX designer, the different types of companies she has worked at, the types of clients she’s worked with, what skills her background has helped her with in her current position, her favorite parts of her job, what she has learned throughout her career and so much more. Now that I have reflected and analyzed our interview, I have been thinking about how I can implement some of the things she said into my Final Product.
As of right now, I am nearly finished with my part of my Final Product. I am doing touch ups and am needing to find an artist for some of the visual aspects of the app. Now that I have utilized the majority of the first semester to design this project, I am focusing on gaining a mentor and interviewing professionals now more than ever. This upcoming weekend, I plan to meet with Mason to discuss our individual progress on the project as well as how we are going to tackle some challenges such as the gaming aspect to the app. Before we meet up though, I would like to have nearly every aspect of my app done before handing the work off to him. Meaning that right now, I am trying to view everything I have constructed from the perspective of who is going to be using it, what I need to change for users, making the design more efficient, etc.
Meeting with more professionals lately has allowed for me to gain new perspectives on my app and UX as a whole and has been very helpful in making the design process to my app a lot easier. In comparison to my previous blog, I have completed five new pages, redid pages to match the overall theme of the app, enacted more research through analyzing other meditation/sleep applications, and have edited the app to make it easier for users such as keyboard placement and the type of art style the buttons will be. Meeting with Jenny has given me yet another perspective to think and learn from and I will utilize everything I have learned to make this product the best it can be.
